The code is built on your device: neither the link nor the Wi-Fi password goes to a server. The downloadable file is created in the browser too.
A QR code stores data with redundancy: part of it can be covered or dirty and it still reads. L keeps about 7 % in reserve, H about 30 %, but the higher the reserve, the denser the matrix. M is enough for a screen; pick Q or H for an outdoor sticker or a code with a logo in the middle.
PNG is a ready-made image: drop it into a chat or a slide. SVG is vector: it scales without losing sharpness and suits print at any size, from a business card to a poster.
The Wi-Fi mode encodes the network name, the encryption type and the password into a WIFI: string. iPhone and Android cameras recognise it and offer to join. Handy for a guest network — nobody has to read the password out loud.
